Whenever there is a major event in baseball these days, everything is meticulously catalogued. Bases and balls are numbered and authenticated with special markings, multiple pairs of cleats or uniforms are worn, several different bats are used, etc. Most of the time it's for the Hall of Fame, sometimes it's also for the seedy memorabilia collectors. So it's not totally surprising that this ball boy hung on to the actual ball hit by Derek Jeter and gave away a random ball in his back pocket the outfielders likely warmed up with between innings. There are only so many balls hit by Jeter in his last game at Yankee Stadium, after all. Still, come on, man! Share the wealth.
