Frederik Andersen Saved a Shea Weber Slap Shot with His Head

Heads up play.

When Shea Weber is open with no traffic in front of him we all know what's coming. Weber likes to rip slap shots, and for good reason. He blasts rockets harder than anyone else in the NHL.

The Predators' defenceman, who has claimed the NHL's hardest shot at the last two skills competitions (reaching 108-plus mph both years), looked like he was trying to one-up his Aroldis Chapman-like velocity during Tuesday night's playoff game against the Anaheim Ducks. And that was bad news for Ducks goalie Frederik Andersen.

Weber unleashed a one-timer that Andersen had nearly no time to react to. As such, he took Weber's blast right off his mask and briefly went down but was somehow miraculously unfazed—he stayed in the game and was a big reason why the Ducks remain in this series. Andersen saved 27 shots for the shutout in Anaheim's 3-0 victory, which helped the heavily-favoured Ducks avoid falling down 3-0 in their best-of-seven first-round matchup.

Here are all the different angles of it, which also shows the unbelievable torque Weber's stick generates on his shot.

Keep your head up, kids. It's survival of the fittest out here during playoff hockey.
