Rowdy TFC Fans Light Up Toronto Streets in Red

Wednesday was one of the most magical evenings the Toronto sports scene has ever produced, and if there's one loyal fan base that deserves to celebrate more than any other, it's Toronto FC supporters.

After capping off one of the most exciting games in MLS—let alone in Toronto sports—history, TFC became the first Canadian team to ever advance to the MLS Cup final and did it by beating bitter rival Montreal with two late goals in extra time to seal it.

Loyal supporters and fans of TFC have been through a lot during the team's tenure. Ownership structure, players, and coaches have all changed drastically and many times over since Toronto's MLS franchise became the first Canadian club to enter the league in 2007. The one constant that has remained through it all is the unwavering and incredibly loyal, intense and passionate supporter base that TFC has been fortunate enough to call theirs for a decade.

After making the playoffs for the first time last year, TFC built off that to become a potent and integral part of the Toronto sports scene this season. With an MLS Cup berth on the line, fans were ready to let loose before, during and after the match, and boy did they ever. The scene was incredible throughout the city as flares, fireworks, smoke bombs and chants filled the night sky in preparation of the game, followed by jubilation and celebration after.

The city was wild last night, and for many TFC fans, it's been 10 seasons in the making. TFC fans were loud and painting the city streets in red en route to the stadium, as they got ready for the biggest game in franchise history.

This is what the scene looked like an hour and a half before game time in the Liberty Village area of Toronto, just up the street from TFC's home stadium, BMO Field.

Smoke. So much smoke it would make Snoop Dogg proud. It didn't phase anyone, though, as the chanting continued to ring throughout BMO for hours to come.

Fans literally lighting up the Toronto sky. This was the scene across many parts of the city last night before, and after, the historic Reds victory.

Toronto sports teams—including TFC, the Maple Leafs, Raptors and Blue Jays—are well known for their support of one another. On Wednesday, Jays outfielder Kevin Pillar was firing up the crowd from the south end seats.

With the the one-game MLS Cup final set for Dec. 10 in Toronto, supporters are hopeful that Wednesday was just a warmup for the real party—the one after TFC captures Toronto's first major title since 1993.
