Lukaku's Four Magnificent Goals Against Bournemouth Make Him Top EPL Golden Boot Contender

The golden boot may be in sight, but the Toffees are impatient to see if Lukaku and Everton can edge out a couple more teams this season.

Oh, sweet Romelu. You are like the sauce that delights our seafood—except you provide so many more nutrients to our footy diet. While Everton may only be verging on the top six of the Premier League, Lukaku's boot is No. 1 / gold / A-OK, as he's beaten out all other contenders for most goals on the season so far. All helped out by his gone-ballistics run of four goals on the day against Bournemouth. They were plentiful and gorgeous.

Above, we have Lukaku's first goal—scored just 31 seconds after kickoff. He seemingly has mastered the old one-two (see also below), as he gives a clean one touch to send the collapsing defense away from him. He uses the defensive scramble to generate space enough to rocket a curler into the side netting. And that was just the beginning.

Lukaku's second goal on the day was admittedly a gift off of a horrible pass. But not one that he unwrapped ungratefully. Instead of finding an easy tap-in, he sent the ball far to the corner with a nifty little chip around the keeper. Thank you for keeping things aesthetically pleasing, The Tank.

Remember how I was talking about the old one-two? Well:

Lukaku split Bournemouth's seams, drawing approximately 1,000 defenders and then dished out to Séamus Coleman, who sent in a perfect cross for Lukaku to strike on the volley. The third goal was pretty.

And to put a feather in his hat trick, Lukaku had one more in him on the day. A beautiful overlapping play that found him yet again in a showdown with the keeper and one last defender:

Lukaku's 16 goals have now edged out the likes of EPL poster boys Alexis Sanchez (15), Diego Costa (15), and Zlatan (14). The golden boot may be in sight, but the Toffees are impatient to see if Lukaku and Everton can edge out a couple more teams in their 14 games left this season.
