Mizzou Launches All-White Uniforms. Timing, People. Timing.

Let's pause for a moment to consider what's happening here.

First, background.

On several occasions, Missouri has scheduled a football game at Kansas City's Arrowhead Stadium. From 2007 to 2009, they had a tradition of unveiling special uniforms to commemorate the occasion. This weekend, the Tigers take on BYU in the first Arrowhead game since 2011, and Missouri felt it would be a good time to return to that custom, with a brand new combination. Cool idea, right?

Well….

Now, obviously these uniforms were commissioned awhile ago and, for what it's worth, the Tigers are also continuing the tradition of wearing all-black uniforms in their season finale, per the official press release. In light of recent events on Missouri's campus, however, going through with the PR roll-out might not have been the best decision. The tone-deafness calls to mind Vanderbilt's social media screwup from earlier this summer, and it wouldn't be surprising to see these uniforms postponed or outright scrapped. Regardless of intent, it's just not very bright to go all-white right after someone pooped a swastika on your campus.
