Jets Fans Get Married in Parking Lot Before Game, Ensuring It Can Only Get Better from There

The marriage, that is. They're still Jets fans, so in that respect, it only got worse from there. After saying "I do" in the parking lot of MetLife Stadium, Robert and Christine Melofchik went on to experience the full Jets fan experience on Sunday, which as we all know is: hope, despair, hope you know better than to trust but trust anyway, and de-fucking-spair. At least they have each other now.

Metro's Kristian Dyer was there for the ceremony at Section L-7 in the MetLife parking lot and documented the couple's vows, officiated by what appears to be Jek Porkins, reincarnated as a Jets fan. Christine and Robert tailgate all the time and love the friends they've made along the way—Jet Porkins is a fellow L-7 tailgater and got ordained just for them—but their relationship has had its fair share of sacrifice, too:

The couple met at a cookout in North Carolina five years ago and Christine has recently moved to north Jersey. She was a Pittsburgh Steelers fan but according to Robert she "changed that." She is now a passionate Jets fan…

The operative word in that last sentence is "now"—I hope for Christine's sake that it's not a "til death do us part" situation. But as Jets fans, Christine and Robert are, against all odds, optimistic. When asked what they planned to do for a honeymoon, Robert replied that they had no plans. "We consider the rest of our lives our honeymoon."

The Seahawks beat the Jets, 27-17.
