Watch A Confused Ryan McDonagh Skate Headfirst into the MSG Boards

McDonagh was shaken up after taking a high stick to the head area, but turned out to be fine. We hope he'll be able to get a good laugh out of this like the rest of us.

A minor high stick nearly led to a major situation for New York Rangers defenceman Ryan McDonagh.

After taking a stick to the head area from St.Louis Blues centre Jori Lehtera, McDonagh skated away stunned—wobbly and wincing—as he glided toward the Rangers' bench. His intentions were good, but also misguided as he missed the door by quite a wide margin.

Although visibly shaken, McDonagh returned later in the first period after being evaluated via the NHL's concussion protocol. The Rangers captain finished the game on a regular shift and helped Henrik Lundqvist earn the 60th shutout of his career as New York blanked the Blues 5-0.

Despite his brief disagreement with the Madison Square Garden boards, McDonagh had an assist and a +2 rating in 21:06 minutes of ice time on the night. He has nine points (all assists) in 10 games for the surging Rangers.
