Corey Perry Called out for 'Garbage' Cheap Shot on Top Hockey Prospect Patrik Laine

Laine and Finland had the last laugh, pumping Canada, 4-0.

Anaheim Ducks forward Corey Perry has been known to do garbage things. So his cheap shot on Finland's Patrik Laine at the world hockey championships on Tuesday shouldn't come as a shocker.

Perry, skating back to the Canadian bench, stuck out his left leg and clipped an unsuspecting Laine, who was shaken up as he skated off the ice. He remained in the game, popped some painkillers and deemed himself fine. Canadians should love this guy!

TSN hockey analyst Ray Ferraro called it a 'garbage play.' Perry, Canada's captain, was taking a lot of heat, a Twitter search of 'Corey Perry' revealed.

Perhaps the biggest thing Perry has to worry about is potential retribution from Laine's fellow countrymate Esa Tikkanen.

The highly-touted Finnish prospect, who has been lighting it up at the worlds, is expected to be taken second overall after Auston Matthews in next month's NHL draft.

Laine and Finland had the last laugh, pumping Canada, 4-0. Finland will play Denmark in the quarterfinals, while Canada gets Sweden.
