Ben Saxton, you did what?! That is insane — CBC Olympics (@CBCOlympics)August 12, 2016

Is that even legal?

That'll be your first reaction after watching this incredible play unfold. Turns out it's perfectly legal, and it helped keep a rally alive while ensuring Ben Saxton will remain on the post-Olympics highlight reels for years to come. Saxton and his partner Chaim Schalk, one of two Canadian men's teams to compete in the beach volleyball tournament in Rio, went on to win their lucky loser playoff match against Poland on Thursday to advance to the Round of 16.

The Canadian duo will play the Netherlands on Saturday, with the winner advancing to the quarterfinals.

Canada has one beach volleyball medal since the sport was introduced to the Summer Games in 1996, when John Child and Mark Heese captured bronze in the inaugural year.
