Danny Amendola Makes Ridiculous Catch to Put Bills Out of Their Misery

Danny Amendola made a tremendous catch the seal the game, and Logan Ryan made it official with an equally tremendous interception.

This catch didn't technically end the Bills valiant comeback—an interception off a tipped ball by Logan Ryan sealed it—but it pretty much made it impossible. On first-and-ten from the Buffalo 46-yard line, Tom Brady escaped the Buffalo pressure and found Danny Amendola racing downfield for an absurd circus catch for 29 yards. It's amazing he made the catch, and even more amazing it didn't squirt out when he landed.

This is the frustrating thing about a great quarterback like Brady, as well as Rex Ryan's defense. Ryan defenses generate plenty of pressure, but oftentimes they fall just short of getting to the quarterback before he gets the throw off. This frustration is compounded when a quarterback is as good as Tom Brady. The Bills just came off a great drive to get within one score, and just when it seemed like they were this close to backing the Patriots up with a huge sack, bam, 30-yards into the red zone and the clock racing to the two-minute warning.

Buffalo did not allow the Patriots into the end zone, though, instead forcing a field goal and keeping the deficit at one possession. Unfortunately, Tyrod Taylor was intercepted on the first pass of the ensuing drive on an Amendola-esque catch from Logan Ryan. The pass was a little high for Sammy Watkins, so he only got his fingertips on it, allowing Ryan to sneak under it and make a great catch to end the Buffalo threat, and the game, at 40-32.
