VICE Sports World News Roundup: August 31

Start your day with VICE Sports. Here's our morning roundup of the sports news from around the world.

Good morning, America. Welcome to the VICE Sports World News Roundup. Be sure to stop by daily for your morning headlines.

It's the 31st of August, 2015, and Sepp Blatter is still president of FIFA.

In South Africa, the Agency for New Agenda political party is suing to prevent the South African Rugby Union from attending the upcoming Rugby World Cup. The ANA is upset because there are too few black players on the team. If they're successful, all of the players named to the squad could have their passports revoked.

Here's my Premier League review after matchday 4: United sucks, Liverpool sucks, Chelsea sucks, Arsenal sucks, Tottenham sucks. Crystal Palace? Good. Manchester City? Very good.

Swansea beat Manchester United, a team that sucks, 2-1 on Sunday. Swansea striker Gomis looked a lot like the kind of player Manchester United needs to sign before the end of the transfer window, which is today. Here's how the Mirror summed up the game:

Over in Germany, Borussia Monchengladbach also sucks (link in German). The team entered the record books as the first Champions League team to ever lose the first three games of its domestic season.

Thank god it's the final day of the summer transfer window. It's peak rumor season, and I can't wait to get back to headlines that are based in fact. Speaking of transfers and facts, Manchester City coughed up £55m to sign Kevin De Bruyne from Wolfsburg. That's a lot of money!

World Cup-winning German coach Jogi Low made a shocking announcement in a recent interview (link in German): he gave away his winners' medal. It's now the property of his godchild.

Legendary MotoGP driver Valentino Rossi won the British Grand Prix.

British defending Olympic Champion Mo Farah won the 5,000m gold at the World Championships in Beijing.

Undeservingly-marketable, good-but-not-great tennis star Maria Sharapova is out of the U.S. Open. Sharapova has been nursing a knee injury since Wimbledon. It's too bad, but let's be honest, she wouldn't have given future-champion Serena Williams much trouble anyway.

The Athletics World Championships are over, which means no more incredible photos of people doing amazing things. A bummer, for sure. Tournament organizers were nice enough to leave us with some deeply surreal images from the closing ceremony. Here is my favorite one:
