Some Asshole Threw a Can of Beer at Orioles Outfielder Hyun-soo Kim as He Tried to Catch a Fly Ball

An idiot Toronto Blue Jays fan threw a can of beer at an orioles outfielder during the Wild Card game.

In the seventh inning of the Wild Card game between the Blue Jays and the Orioles in Toronto, as Baltimore outfielder Hyun-soo Kim ranged back to catch Melvin Upton Jr.'s pop fly to left field, a can of beer went sailing past his head. What has otherwise been a thrilling game will now be remembered as the one where some idiot fan threw a beer at a player. Kim still made the catch but immediately reacted by looking behind him, shocked. Center fielder Adam Jones not so much shocked as he was livid, and began pointing and screaming in the direction from where the can came.

It first looked like it was a water bottle—not that it really matters what was thrown, it's an asshole thing to do regardless—but on slow motion the projectile appears to be a fairly full 24 ounce can of beer. And it came pretty damned close to hitting Kim, or at the very least interfering with the play.

Buck Showalter immediately trotted out to log his complaints as TBS went to commercial, and he was still at it when the broadcast returned. Rogers Centre security eventually got out there to figure out who the fan was who threw it.

Last year, in Game 5 of the ALDS, Toronto fans actually managed to do worse, and threw shit on the field en masse in response to an overturned call that gave the Rangers a 3-2 lead.
