A Very Good Service Dog Drops Ceremonial Puck Before NHL Game

Corporal Nero is a good boy.

There was a special guest on hand for a special night in Anaheim.

As part of military appreciation night, a service dog dropped the puck for the ceremonial face-off at centre ice prior to the game between the Ducks and Flames on Sunday.

Going by the name Corporal Nero, he is a police patrol and explosive detector dog, and obviously a bad ass. He's also a very good boy, and after fulfilling his duties, Ducks captain Ryan Getzlaf made sure to tell him that with a little head rub. Seems like Nero was more interested in getting the puck back, though, instead of feeling Getzlaf's paws. Either way, we'd like to pet him, too.

Too bad Mark Giordano didn't feel the same way. It appears his decision to ignore Nemo led to some bad karma, as the Flames were downed 4-1, losing for the fourth time in five games.
