Texas A&M Comes Back To Beat Arkansas In Overtime Thanks to Big Plays And Razorback Ineptitude

Texas A&M came back in a crushing loss for Arkansas.

Texas A&M came back to beat Arkansas 35-28 today thanks to 87-yard and 59-yard touchdowns, and a little help from falling Razorbacks. Early in the fourth quarter, Kenny Hill, Edward Pope, and Texas A&M were the beneficiaries of a hard luck play from Jared Collins, who not only got beat by Pope, but ate it just as the ball was approaching. Pope was able to make an easy grab and trot into the end zone for a much-needed 87-yard bomb, cutting the lead to 28-21.

Hill wasn't so lucky later in the fourth quarter when he tried to go deep again, but put too much air under a wobbling ball and not enough distance. Carroll Washington was able to jump in front of the receiver for the interception, momentarily keeping the lead over A&M at seven.

With just over two minutes left and hoping to make it a two-possession game, Arkansas badly missed a field goal, setting up the Aggies at their own 27. Two plays, 21 seconds, and 73 yards later the score was tied. The big play was a 59-yard Kenny Hill strike to Josh Reynolds on another bad play from the Arkansas defense.

A&M tied the game, forced overtime, and won it with a touchdown while keeping Arkansas out of the end zone on their possession.
