John Terry Equalizes for Chelsea in 98th minute

Chelsea equalized on a controversial goal to cap off a wild game.

Chelsea and Everton played a fantastic match today at Stamford Bridge and it ended in a 3-3 draw at the very end of seven minutes of stoppage time. John Terry, who also opened the scoring early in the second half with an own goal, ended the scoring in the "53rd second of the eighth of the allotted seven minutes of stoppage time" with this backheel flick you see above. He was also offside.

He also didn't care:

Was it offside? I don't know. I don't really care. It was my first one this season.

For Everton, it's an absolute killer, because they weathered Chelsea's comeback from a 2-0 deficit—a goal each from Diego Costa and Cesc Fabregas in the 64th and 66th minute, respectively—and took a last-minute lead when Ramiro Funes Mori scored in the 90th minute. Funes Mori came on in the 52nd minute after Phil Jagielka was removed with an apparent leg injury, and looked to have netted the game winner just as the clock ticked to 90:00 with this flying scissor kick volley.

Everton do have some experience dealing with absurd finishes that end in draws after they thought they had a late game-winner. In Late November, Ross Barkley scored what appeared to be the game-winner in the last minute of stoppage time, only to see Bournemouth come right back to net the equalizer before the game actually ended.

(I never said it was good experience.)
