After making huge waves at the end of last year with her extremely good mixtape Real Ting, 2017 so far has seen Stefflon Don cementing herself as a serious music industry player – like, her most recent power move was a feature alongside Demi Lovato – and now she's finally hitting us with an official debut single. "Hurtin' Me," which features French Montana, is the first release from Steff's own Universal imprint V-VI Records, and also her first release under the US label Quality Control, a home she shares with Migos and Lil Yachty. So, yeah. Big things."Hurtin' Me" itself (listen above) is mellower than what we've seen so far from Steff, which can only be a good thing, as she flexes her muscles as a smooth, sexy R&B vocalist against a chilled-out verse from French Montana. And though it's a shame not to hear her rapping (hopefully a solo remix is forthcoming), it's also interesting to see one of the most exciting new British artists we've seen in a very long time dipping her toes into various waters, and succeeding at whatever she tries her hand at.Read our Stefflon Don profile here.Follow Lauren on Twitter.
