ASU Ends Notre Dame Comeback With Another Interception

Notre Dame turned the ball over like crazy today and the Sun Devils capitalized each time. A dropped pass by Corey Robinson was intercepted and returned 58 yards for the final nail in the coffin.

Notre Dame almost came all the way back to make this game truly interesting, but they just cannot keep the football under control. Everett Golson was intercepted late in the fourth quarter with Notre Dame driving, down ten. As they had all day, Arizona State quickly turned it into points.

This will go down as an interception for Golson, just one more to add to his growing collection of turnovers, but that's a raw deal. The pass hit Corey Robinson right in the numbers and it bounced off his chest, deflected off his flailing arm, and hung in the air just long enough for Lloyd Carrington to catch it. Carrington was able to avoid the bummed out cast of Notre Dame offensive players and returned it 58 yards for a touchdown and a 48-31 lead. it was the fourth interception for Golson, and the second returned for a touchdown.

Notre Dame turned it over on downs on the next possession and Arizona State finished the game with another touchdown to make it a 55-31 final. It was an ugly game for the Irish, but Sun Devil alum Jake Plummer is pretty on board with it all.
