P.K. Subban is no longer a member of the Montreal Canadiens, but his love for the city and its people is as strong as ever.

The popular defenceman wrote a heartfelt letter to his friends at the Montreal Children's Hospital—the same hospital he donated $10 million to last year—confirming his commitment to those in need at the medical centre despite his change of address.

Subban helped raise over $130,000 for the hospital this past weekend when he hosted a Just for Laughs charity gala in Montreal.

Subban's efforts for the city of Montreal, including his $10 million donation that was the largest philanthropic commitment by a sports figure in Canadian history, makes it obvious why so many Canadiens fans were hurt over the deal that sent him to Nashville.

On the bright side, the city of Nashville finally has a sports figure to be excited about in what could be the perfect marriage for player and team.

VICE Sports was with Subban in Montreal when he made the generous donation last year, and we got to know more about who he is off the ice.
