U.S. women's national team star Alex Morgan will be on the cover of the FIFA 2016 video game. She and Canadian star Christine Sinclair, who will be featured on the Canadian edition of the game, will be the first women ever featured on the cover.

A friendly between Leeds United and Eintracht Frankfurt descended into a pretty decent fan riot. It's just like the good ol' days! The Guardian has more, but a video is embedded below.

In cricket, England won the first round of the women's Ashes. The men are farther along in their series and Australia has so far dominated.

Stage 17 is under way in Le Tour. Leader Chris Froome can't seem to escape doping allegations. Froome has more than a three minute lead on Colombian newcomer Nairo Quintana Rojas.

The preliminary rounds of men's basketball got underway yesterday at the Pan Am Games. The U.S. beat Venezuela 85 to 62. The U.S. women took silver on Monday, losing to Canada 73-81.

MLS is in the midst of its customary series of friendlies against European super clubs. But just because these are meaningless games and blatant money grabs—93,000 fans packed the Rose Bowl in L.A. to watch the Galaxy take on Barcelona—doesn't mean they're free of controversy. In another friendly Manchester United defeated the San Jose Earthquakes 3-1. The team is still expected to complete a number of signings this transfer window, and there is still speculation that star goalkeeper David de Gea will leave for Real Madrid. Former club captain Rio Ferdinand had something to tell the Spaniard:
