Washington Beats Dallas Thanks To Colt McCoy's Improvisation

Colt McCoy made a nice adjustment to get Washington into field goal position in overtime, setting up the game-winning kick from 40 yards out.

This first-and-ten play from midfield wasn't a game-winning play per se, but Colt McCoy put his team in a position to win by directing traffic and picking up 16 yards with a lofted pass to Jordan Reed. It was a great throw and catch but more importantly, it put Washington in field goal range. Jay Gruden and company got a little conservative from that point, and only picked up another seven yards on the drive before settling for what wound up being the game-winning field goal from 40 yards out.

The Cowboys had a chance to counter the score, but Romo was clearly shaky since returning from that nasty back hit, and they went out with a thud on four straight downs. McCoy and Washington picked up a wild 20-17 upset win on the road against a division rival that not many people saw coming. How big of an upset was it? Well, that depends on how much stock you put in ESPN's Expert Picks.
