Fitzmagic Squirts the Ball "Forward" For Jets TD, Turns Over Immediately After

There's a reason they call Ryan Fitzpatrick "Fitzmagic:" He conjures offense out of terrible quarterback play. Late in the game against the Seahawks, though, he might have outdone even himself:

Seahawks defensive end Cliff Avril turns the corner, hacks Fitzpatrick's arm and forces a fumble (as he'd done 25 times in his career coming into today). Despite Fitzpatrick's arm clearly not going forward, the ball somehow squirts out well beyond the line of scrimmage. Rookie wideout Charone Peake picks it up and rambles an uncontested 42 yards for the TD—his first ever, mind you—putting the Jets right back in it.

(Not to mention that Earl Thomas shouting, "his hand was going forward!" into the ref's mic during the decision.)

…of course, Fitzpatrick threw his third pick of the day on the next possession, shutting the door on the Jets' comeback, with a final score of 27-17, Seahawks—but it was such fun while it lasted.
