Why Isn't Rugby Called 'Football'?

This guy makes a sick play in a rugby league match that makes us wonder why soccer vs. football is still an argument worth having.

This play right here, it's a sick play. Look how the guy runs fast, stays in bounds, kicks it and then the other guy catches it and scores. Totally epic.

But what's more mind blowing than this play is the genius idea it inspired that could bring peace between America and the rest of the world: let's rename rugby to football.

Rugby—league or union—is similar to American football in that it is a contact sport and uses an oblong shaped ball, and similar to Association football—soccer—in that it involves kicking and players wearing short shorts. Thus, instead of letting the discrepancy of soccer vs. football continue to damage the United States' relationship with the rest of the world, let's universally use the term "football" for the sport that involves the best of both and find new, more appropriate names for the others, like "Head Butt Ball" and "Concussion Ball," which ironically enough, also sound like the same thing. Never mind.

Nice catch, rugby league dude.
