Arsenal Ladies fooled by fake free-kick-fight

Notts County scored a beautifully worked free-kick in their Women's Super League clash with Arsenal thanks to some slick diversionary tactics.

Notts County scored this beautifully worked free-kick in their 1-1 Women's Super League draw against Arsenal on Thursday. Ellen White was the beneficiary of some diversionary tactics from her team-mates Laura Bassett and Alex Greenwood, who pretended to get into a fight just as Bassett was about to strike the ball. Greenwood then moved off her spot and, as the 'argument' began, touched the ball to her left, allowing White to split off and curl a shot into the bottom right.

White later said they've worked on the set piece many times and she was just happy to pull it off, having had plenty of misfires in practice. She's a touch sorrowful, however, because "now we can never do it again, which is a little annoying." Still, it's better to have loved and lost, etc.
