College Goalie Makes Ridiculous Behind-the-Back Glove Save

College goalie Kasimir Kaskisuo made the save of the year with this behind-the-back glove hand save.

Kasimir Kaskisuo is a freshman goaltender for University of Minnesota Duluth from Finland. These words are being written here about a Finnish collegiate goaltender because he made a spectacular behind-the-back save in last night's game against Miami of Ohio.

Miami's Cody Murphy came streaking down the wing and cut right in front of the crease, waiting for the perfect time for Kaskisuo to leave an opening for him to shoot through. It finally seemed to come as Murphy coasted around to Kaskisuo's stick-side. What he, or anyone else in the building failed to anticipate was that the Finnish goalie was going to thrust his glove hand behind his back and snag the damn puck out of the air. He didn't just block it, or deflect it, he caught that sucker. "Oh my gosh" is right.

After the game, however, he was not all that impressed with himself and was actually critical of the save. "It was bad movement from me, not enough following him all the way and then just throwing the glove in there. This time I got lucky," he told reporters. Whatever man. Luck or not, that was nasty—own it.
